Lilly Teng is an expert in the North Asia and North America markets covering broadly the energy and technology industries in a combination of legal, regulatory, and commercial roles.
Lilly began her career working in business positions for USA companies, focusing on natural gas transportation and supply for Sonat and marketing for Union Texas Petroleum Corporation. Her career in law began in private practice, however she missed the business world and people. She returned as internal counsel for Enron Corp when times were great, then switched to the commercial world as Director for Enron International, covering China, Japan, Republic of Korea, and Taiwan. The development world beckoned— she left Enron to represent private equity investors and Texaco focused on China projects. A phone call came in 2002 and she joined Suez North America as General Counsel for marketing, trading, and LNG development. Always seeking adventure, she became an independent advisor for Asian and America energy companies such as Chevron, Goldwind Science & Technology, XEMC New Energy, Green Power Investment, Diamond Generating, and USA independent upstream companies. AWR Lloyd beckoned in 2010 and she joined as Senior Partner with the firm until co-founding Orchid Group. At Orchid Law, Lilly represents international corporation and entrepreneurs on investments in Asia and Americas, advises USA law firms needing in-depth knowledge of Asia and business connections to expand their Asian client portfolio, and helps entrepreneurs avoid litigation and resolve disputes with Asian companies and partners.
Lilly has degrees in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Texas at Austin (BBA) and a Juris Doctorate (JD) from South Texas College of Law in Houston.
